Hello and a very warm welcome to Year 2!
I am the Year 2 teacher, Mrs Nalton. Also working in Year 2 is Mrs McGann, our Higher Level Teaching Assistant. We are lucky enough to have one of our PE lessons each week with Mr Pearson who is a specialist sports coach.
Below, you will find a few pieces of handy information.
PE days are Wednesday and Friday (Children wear their PE kit to school on these days.)
Children who have Read Write Inc phonics sessions have their reading books changed every Friday by their RWI phonics teacher.
Children who have completed Read Write Inc Phonics can change their reading books each time they have completed a book and entered it onto their Bronze Reading Challenge sheet.
If your child reads at least three times each week and has their reading record signed each time, they will become a Remarkable and their reward is to bring any snack of their choice to school for Monday morning break time. This is checked every Friday.
Library books are changed on a Monday.
Children bring home a spelling rule to practise each week alongside the National Curriculum word list and one piece of maths homework. Homework is collected, spelling tests are carried out and new homework and spellings are given out each Friday. Fridays are busy!
We also encourage maths practise on the Numbots app and TT Rockstars app. This can also be accessed via the website if you do not have the app.
We pack in so many ‘extras’ alongside our fantastic learning in school that there is always something to look forward to. Things like cinema trips, computing trips, dressing up days, enterprise events, festive performances and so much more!
