LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

At Spindle Point, we believe that PE is vital to all children’s development and is unique in its contribution to a pupil’s physical and emotional development and health. It develops a child’s knowledge, skill and understanding so that they can perform with confidence in a range of physical activities.
As a school, one of our main goals is to increase participation in physical activity therefore we have implemented the Daily Mile into our school day. This helps to improve the health and wellbeing of children. All classes in KS2 take part in 15 minutes of exercise each day in which they can run or jog at their own pace.
We provide a wide range of sports, including dance, gymnastics, competitive games, hockey, basketball, football, athletics, swimming and outdoor adventurous activities. Children enjoy and look forward to their PE lessons and this reflects in the high participation in extra-curricular clubs and the success we enjoy in inter-school competitions across a variety of sports.
At Spindle Point, we link with professional coaches who are a part of ‘Key PE Sports’. This is an online scheme of work in line with the national curriculum and provides lessons that are fun, progressive and challenging.
