Meet the Year 1 team
Hello everyone, welcome to Year 1. I am the Year 1 Class Teacher Mrs Ford. Also working in Year 1 we have Mrs Trow and Miss Fitzpatrick, our Teaching Assistants and Mr Hogben on a Friday.
The Year 1 week
P.E days are on Thursday and Friday. The children are to come dressed in their P.E Kit on these days (no earrings please). Also, if they are participating in sports based after school clubs on other days, they may wear trainers to school on that day.
Homework is a piece of Maths work, which has a particular focus. It is given out and collected on Fridays. We also have some spellings to learn each week. They will be given out on Friday and tested the following Friday.
We check the children’s reading records every Friday. To be a remarkable reader and earn the reward of ‘bring your own snack’ on Monday, the children need to read 3 times a week and have their record signed each time. The reading record will be stamped if they have done this.
All reading books are changed on Fridays. Please ensure your child returns their books and reading record each Friday but also has them in school every day.
Library books can be changed each Friday.
Year 1 events
We have lots of fun events to look forward to in Year 1, such as dressing up for World Book Day, a visit to the cinema and RHS Bridgewater and much more!
