Year 5

Welcome to the Year 5

The Year 5 class teacher is Mrs Peters, and the HLTA is Mrs Larkin.

We are fortunate to be joined by sports coach Mr Pearson on Wednesdays. We also do PE on Mondays. On these days we come to school in our PE kits. If any children are attending an after school sports club or are part of a sports team, they can come to school in PE kits on training days and match days too. On a Friday Mr McKend comes in to teach us how to play the clarinet.

On Mondays we invite parents to school to join us in our Celebration Assembly. We celebrate our Pupils’ of the Week, where Mrs Peters will choose those pupils who have really impressed with their learning, attitude or behaviour. Pupils can also bring in any of their celebrations from home, such as football trophies, dance certificates and any other exciting achievements. Miss Bingham, our head teacher, will also give out rewards for those children with Merit Awards.

Homework and spellings are given out on a Friday. Reading books can be changed as often as needed.

Fridays are also a day for celebrating; we have Remarkable Readers and our times table challenge, as well as trying to beat the teacher at Wordle!

There are plenty of exciting trips and opportunities to look forward to in Year 5: Bikeability, Money Matters Training, trip to Stockport Air Raid Shelter, performing in our class assembly, camping over on our school grounds, watching a pantomime at Christmas, and many more as our interests develop throughout the year.

Any new information about Year 5 will be passed on to you through our school newsletters and in texts or emails. If you have any questions or need any help at all, you can always contact us.
