At Spindle Point we believe that a high-quality education will teach pupils to speak, write, listen, and read fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others. Reading allows pupils to develop in a cultural, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual way. Additionally, they acquire knowledge to build on what they have already learnt. All skills of the English language are essential to participating fully as a member of society. At Spindle Point we intend to provide a creative English curriculum to ensure that we nurture passion and enthusiasm for reading and writing. Teachers focus heavily on building a rich vocabulary across the curriculum.

The children will explore English through our school curriculum, visits from writers such as authors, illustrators or journalists, taking part in writing and reading competitions.

The school has held the Basic Skills Quality Mark for over a decade.

The school promotes PSHE through a carefully planned Emotional Literacy journey, focusing on key texts to support mental health and promoting understanding of the self and others.
