LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Geography
At Spindle Point we want our children to look at both the human and natural features of the world around us. All children will develop an understanding and knowledge of the different places and environments which exist within our world, the knowledge and skills to use maps efficiently and incorporate a variety of skills that can be used both inside and outside the classroom.
The children take part in Forest School sessions throughout the year. These sessions provide children with a supportive curriculum that can help children to build positive attitudes and values towards learning, themselves and the environment in which they live. Children are able to build their confidence, resilience and independence through the Forest School activities as well.
At least once a week in KS2, the children watch Newsround as a way to keep up to date with what is happening all over the world. Throughout the year, various year groups participate in orienteering lessons, which help with their navigation skills. Spindle Point school is currently working with other schools, as part of our curriculum, to help address Bolton’s climate crisis.
