Science

Science is a core area of learning at Spindle Point Primary School. Whilst following the National Curriculum content for science, we believe that enquiry should be at the heart of our school’s science curriculum. With this in mind, we have made our vision for science teaching and learning clear using the acronym ‘ENQUIRES’

We believe this summarises all we feel is critical to support and develop our budding scientists on their learning journey. We also value the importance of developing science capital within our pupils, knowing the journey of science throughout history, the lives and accomplishments of famous scientists and how this has influenced the life we live today. In addition, we want our pupils to recognise, understand and become excited by how our scientific knowledge has no endpoint, it will develop further and lead us into untold careers and futures.

 Making science ‘real’ to the pupils is extremely important to us at Spindle Point and we actively search for experiences outside the classroom and resources to help develop the teaching and learning of science.  

We are also proud to recognise all we do in science by completing and achieving the Primary Science Quality Mark 2020 and in developing our Science journey further we have since been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark Gilt Award 2024.
