Welcome to the Year 6 Class Page
The adults in Year 6 are Mrs Newby, Mrs Howarth and Mrs Larkin.
PE is taught on Tuesdays by Mrs Larkin and on Wednesdays by our specialist PE coach from Key PE Sports. Year 6 will need to come to school in their PE kits on these days, please. Also, if any children are attending an after-school sports club or are part of a sports team, they can bring their PE kit to school to change into on training days and match days too.
On Mondays, we love to invite adults into school to celebrate our achievements with us during our Celebration assembly. This is also a day to bring in any awards or accomplishments we have received outside of school, as these too, are given out during the assembly. This is a reward we can earn for various reasons throughout the week. On Friday’s we celebrate our wonderful children who have demonstrated our Character Education traits across the week. Remarkable Readers is checked every Friday and those who have read at least 3 times in a week (and had their diary signed by an adult), can bring in a single portion snack of their choice on a Monday.
We have lots of things to look forward to in Year 6. A snapshot of some of these things includes: taking part in ‘Money Matters – Debt Awareness’ lessons; learning vital life skills and safety advice with the Crucial Crew; going on a residential to the Anderton Centre; sharing our learning in our class assembly; watching a pantomime at Christmas; visiting the cinema; and of course, performing to all in our end of year production. We also visit our new high schools for transition activities to prepare us for the next stage in our school life. We undertake our SATs too, which we see as an exciting challenge and a way to show how much we have learned and developed during our time at Spindle Point.
