P.H.S.E
At Spindle Point, we believe that a high quality PHSE curriculum is fundamental to achieving the aspirations we have for our children and supports our school aims. We aim to provide pupils with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, values and skills they need in order to reach their potential as individuals within the school and wider community.
At Spindle Point, we choose to deliver Personal, Social, and Health Education using Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE. Using this approach the children can reflect on their experiences and make informed choices, developing personally, and socially by tackling many spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. They also learn to understand and respect our common humanity, diversity and differences so that they can go on to form effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning.
RSE
Effective relationships and sex education are essential if young people are to make responsible and well-informed decisions about their lives. At Spindle Point, this aspect of the curriculum is not delivered in isolation but is firmly rooted within the programme of study for PSHE and the Science National Curriculum.
We believe that effective RSE can make a significant contribution to the development of the personal skills needed by pupils if they are to establish and maintain relationships. It also enables children and young people to make responsible and informed decisions about their health and well-being.
At Spindle Point, we use the Jigsaw PSHE programme of study. Within this, we include statutory Relationships and Health Education.
